Hi, I'm a new user here at these forums. so bare with me if this is an old issue.

My computer is a AMD Athlon Barton 2500+ on a Cooler Master Aero 7+ Fan/Heatsink with 512meg Kingston pc3200(400mhz) ddr ram, maxtor hd 60 gig, with a memorex cd-rom, geforce 4 fx 5200 ultra, albatron KX400-8X motherboard.. 350watt power supply.. Phoenix Awards BIOS with Windows XP Home.. So its a pretty basic up to date budget gaming rig.

Heres the problem:
My brother tried to overclock my new built computer- which btw was working quite well for 3 days straight. I didn't want him to, but i wasnt awake when this happened so now i gotta deal with it while he sleeps. He was able to overclock it to 2195mhz from 1837mhz with +15% volt and 195mhz. Then he did something stupid, and tried to oc it from 195mhz and default voltage. After that happened, the computer started to run kinda slow and gave us a registration error. It worked fine a lil bit after, but when we changed the settings back to Default it gave us a REGISTRY_ERROR STOP 0x00000051 . Which, at the moment ive tried many things to fix. Everytime I try to reinstall windows XP i get to either the Recovery console or installation part and it either says registry_error, and every time I try to run the Windows XP SP1 boot disks or Windows XP Boot disks i get error 7 ntkrmlnp.exe or ntoskrnl.exe is missing. I read up, and their all part of 4 processor identifier files..

I read some of the articles in this forum, and see that Overclocking // Bad Ram are some of the causes of this.. But my computer was working fine with this ram before this happened, does that mean it got screwed up or ? Can someone help me with some fixes.. It would help alot, or previous topics like this.

1. Can you try 'Last Known Good configuration' by hitting the F8 key prior to startup?

2. If no joy, since you cannot access recovery console during startup or perform an in-place upgrade, you will need to do a clean installation of XP.

i've already tried "Last Known Good Configuration" Which ended in a registry error, then ive already tried installing windows xp cleanly again and again, and gives me the same damn error. :( this is just bad. If i cant fix it, and someone tell me what i need to do to replace my parts so i can start just with a new fresh computer? assuming that i dont have to replace some of the parts like the mobo and the processor..

try sourcing another copy of XP-home (u never know)
try installing 98 to see if it will complete the install
try flashing the mobo bios (be careful) - if u do flash the bios make absolutely sure that u are using the CORRECT bios file
any way just a couple of ideas - but remember ensure that u use the correct bios update for your mobo as an incorrect selection will most likely render your mobo inopperable.

i did the test a few times and it checked out ok.. I think im going to get a new hd and see what happens.
