Is it possible to apply registry settings to a group policy...

example - there is software on the network that users must use on a very regular basis, but upon startup this software has to verify itself, and update. I have to set the users local machines to have the ability to CREATE 3 different regkeys, and also must be able to edit/update/set four more registry keys in the HKLM... Can I set this in a GPO and apply it to the group I am concerned with instead of doing this by hand on multiple machines? Are there any pitfalls I should be aware of?

Thnx in advance,

Mark

Sounds like this would be better accomplished with a script than with a GPO. Markdmac?? Sounds like your area.

You can do this either via script, or via GPO.

If you do it via GPO, you just need to add a ADM file, with the policies for the keys you want to install, put a default data in, which would be the contents of said value, and it will be created. I can help you with the GPO, and Mark can sort you out with a script....

Make you're choice.....

need to know the paths\keys\data that you want to create.

Benefit of GPO, is you can easily modify the data content if you have to, and the code for the ADM is alot simpler to modify\add paths and keys at a later date.

Hope this Helps.
