I have a windows 95 machine, that comes up with the following error message after a user logs in to it:

"Cannot import C:\Windows\sb.reg: Error opening the file. There may be a disk or file system error"

Has anyone got any idea of how I can fix the problem?

Thanks!

Penny

Hi Penny,

That is the registry settings for the user who signs on as sb (it sets the policies and preferences for that user). Look on the HDD (do Find for "sb.reg") with all files being shown. See if you can open it with Notepad. It should start with Regedit followed by some registry keys. If you can't open it, see if there are other sb.reg files like sb001.reg, sb002.reg, etc...these will be Windows auto save from others dates. If the file won't open in Notepad and there are no other sb.reg files, then the best one could do is have that user sign on with a new user setup which will create a new user's registry settings. If this is happening to every user then please let me know as you will need to run the registry repair tool.

HTH, Dana:))
