Hi,
I am writing a web reporting application to be used in a multi-site intranet environment. Each site has it's own data and the application needs to inspect a registry entry on the client PC to determine the correct data repository. Does anyone know of a reliable way of reading the registry on a remote client?
The IIS server application runs on Windows 2000 Advanced Server box whilst the clients are NT4 Workstation and IE4.
Thank you in advance

You will need to use an ActiveX object for this. Server-side scripting (such as ASP) does not have access to the client machine. Client-Side scripting (such as clientside javascript) does not have access, I believe Java applets are also to secure (but it's been a couple years).
