Does anyome here know which registry key it is that disables the ability to edit the registry with regedit from windows? My OS is Windows 98.

The straight answer is No, you can't. It is just like you won't let wordpad to edit a plain text file.
For win9x, restriction imposed on executable .exe files can be done on an ALL-with-Exception-basis. That means you can restrict users to run on all .exe file except certain applications. But you must enumerate the allowed applications one-by-one expressedly. So, in general, it is tedious and unpractical without severely reducing the functionality of the system---which is fine for some service open to an untrusted or untrustworthy public.
I have already done that, with the System Policy Editor. My problem is that because of the policy, I cant use the computer without first logging on to the network, which I cant do and I cant access the registry through Windows to set the MustBeValidated key to zero.
I just want to enable the GUI version of regedit from DOS.
My question is if anyone here knows which key it is that disabels the GUI version of the Registry Editor.
If I had the .reg file in question, I would not have posted a question about it.
