regedit.exe and command.com files missing

regedit.exe and command.com files HAVE BEEN DELETED.how can i reinstall these files? Can i extract them some way from the win98 se cd?

command.com is on your emergency boot disk and is located in the root or in \windows. Copy it across from whichever hasn't been erased.
Once you have your system up, run sfc and see if that doesn't find and fix the problem or at least let you extract.

Command.com is also in Windows, Your Root Drive, and on CD......Regedit.exe is in Windows and on CD

Like edfair said ; if you can use SFC....do that.....if not(can't get passed DOS prompt)....read this to extract from CD.....

for regedit just do a search for which .cab file on the install cd contains it. then extract it.

Or just goto a computer that is working of the same OS. Put in a floppy and type

sys A:

copy C:\windows\command sys.* A:

Then boot the floppy on the damaged computer and type:

sys C:

this will copy the importans system files like io.sys and command.com to the C drive.

As for regedit, you can download that almost anyware, or get it from the computer you used for the sys command.
