I created a database and put it on the network for others to use. I then setup security using the wizard. I made myself admin w/password and the others full data users. They would be opening the database in 'shared' mode. When I tried to open the dastabase exclusively it asked for a login name and password. I entered the name and pass I setup and the message it gave me was 'the name and password is not valid.' The wizard setup a secured database copy on the drive. The data users are still able to open the database in shared mode with restricted access. I cant get into the database in exclusive mode to maintain the database. How can I go into the back door to regain access to the database or regain access to the secured copy. I have the work ID # and group/user info. My password that I setup just want work. Any help is appreciated. Thank you for viewing!

Hello,

To open a secured database exclusively:

1. open the database via the shortcut containing the reference to the mdw file and user info.
2. Login to the database with your admin userid and password.
3. Close the database without closing access. At this moment your user credentials are still valid.
4. Reopen the database via the 'file'-menu and instead op pressing the 'open' button, press the little arrow on the right and choose 'open exclusive'.

This should work if the userid and password of the admin user are correct.
