Refresh Tables 1

I have an Access DB set up with a Front End & Back End. In the Back End is 7 ODBC Tables, these tables need to be refreshed everyday.

My first question is which is the more efficient method for ODBC - importing the tables or linking the tables?

My second question is can I program Access to refresh the tables everyday at a certain time? - Would I have to use a batch file? I have little to no experience of batch files so if batch files are the best way to do this please be kind!

If you link the tables, you shouldn't need to refresh them as you will be looking at the current data - unless of course you specifically want to so you don't alter the remote data.

Access does not allow database-specific command-line parameters, which would make it awkward to get it to do something specific once it has opened a database. However, you could create another 'refresh' database that is linked to both sets of tables, that has a form loaded on startup that would refresh the tables then quit.

To schedule a task (WinNt/2000/XP, not Win9x), either use the command-line at utility, or use the GUI in Control Panel -> Scheduled Tasks
