Greeting Folks need some help... I have an office w/ a PRI that was recently reduced in size. I need to reduce the number of inbound calls from the main number into the office now because staffing can't handle the call load. We use to have 15 people and now down to 4. I would like to cap it out to 5 or 6 calls max then either provide a busy or route calls into someones vm.

By the way I have Meridian Option 11

Thanks in Advance

I believe directly to DN's (verifing) but in don't want to remove the line from all spare phones.

One SCR type DN can only take one call at a time, so if you had four in a hunt, you would cap your calls at four.

Find out where the main line rings and identify what hunts to what.

If the main line rings at a menu, you are stuck, because that is ACD in the voice mail system.

OK, verified no ACD. The main line 3230 is set as a MCR on 15 phones (no hunt group), a call come in all 15 phones ring at the same time until the call is answered. If another call comes in the remaining 14 ring and so on... If I set 3230 to SCR they will only receive one call until it is finished correct?

Put MCR 3230 on key 0 of one phone and set to MARP on this phone. Set your Hunt and Forward parameters to go to voice mail after a specific time frame (3 rings / 4 rings etc) put this phone out of reach so no one can mess with it under normal conditions. Remove the MCR off all unused phones.
In this way any unanswered calls will be sent to voice mail after x rings and unless people are away from their desks, you should not hear constant ringing of other unused phones.

If you have 15 MCRs, you have the potential of 15 calls to that number.

If you Hunt or FDN to voice mail, you can take an unlimited number of calls because voice mail is ACD

I'd set the 3230 to SCR and make a 4 or 5 line hunt chain, then you will cap your calls at 4 or 5. Unless you want the main number to land in voice mail, I would not have it go there, ever.
