Red 'X' on drive that is Connected 2

When I login to my network on my Win 2K Pro machine, my mapped network drives all have a red 'X' on them as though they were disconnected. If I double-click on the drive, I can access it no problem, but the red 'X' does not go away. The problem is, that until the red 'X' goes away, some apps will give me errors because they think I can't access the server on which they are located (because they are looking for a drive letter). The red 'X' used to go away once I would go into My Computer and double click on the drive, but now it won't go away. Does anyone know of a fix, or patch to stop this ridiculous behavior?

Thanks,
Rick

I found out that this was suppose to be a feature with Win2k. An enhancement letting you know that the drive was mapped but not stealing network resouces. Pretty lame I know, but that's the answer I got from an MCSE we had working for us. I can't remember if there was any reg hack to get rid of it or not.

Easy Fix

Works with the following:
Microsoft Windows 2000 , Professional
Microsoft Windows 2000 , Server
Microsoft Windows 2000 , Advanced Server
Microsoft Windows 2000 , Datacenter Server
Microsoft Windows NT Workstation versions 3.5 , 3.51 , 4.0
Microsoft Windows NT Server versions 3.5 , 3.51 , 4.0

net config server /autodisconnect:30
set the time at the end of the above cmd line -1 to 65535

I did this on my fileservers (Win2k) back at the beginning of the week & I'm still having the problem.
Are there any other settings that need to be tweezed?

I heard at one time that this was a bug, but that was probably before service pack 1, and we still get it in our office from time to time with service pack 3.
