Hi,

we have a customer with an IPO 406, software 4.1(9).
Slot A: Quad BRI Trunk Card
Slot B: Single E1 PRI Trunk Card

Clock Quality = Fallback on the 1st BRI port (used for a SIM box). The rest of the ports = unsuitable (ports are not used - also, they have different IDs)

The Clock Quality of the PRI = Network
CRC checking = off (we couldn't set up a communication when this option was on)
Line Signaling = CPE

Recently the System reboots often and the System Status Application showed some alarms...

Alarms:
cause: unknown termination -> <TLB Data> addr=00000a08 d=5 pc=ff55...........

Service Alarms:
8kHz clock changed. Last source was internal.

-> this service alarm occurred 30sec after the unknown terminatin / reboot. So I guess this means the system lost the clock signal from the PRI because of the reboot.

On the PRI I had on the same date/time a Red Alarm (los of synchro) and 7sec later a yellow alarm.

I'm thinking of changing the "Line Signaling" option as a test or checking the PRI itself because these problems didn't occur in the past.

Maybe somebody else has an idea what else I could do?

This probably has nothing to do with your isdn
You get this message because the ipoffice rebooted
But what you need to do is put on a trace

The line alarms are more to do with the reboot of the IP Office.
As TLP says, run a trace and post up the results of the reboot.

ok, thanks.

We'll try to get a trace. Only problem is that this reboot occurs randomly. So we'll get a new trace and filter out the days everything seemed to work ok.

@mmy1981

What Sim box do u use?
Is your Sim box connected over 2 ISDN lines?

@bas1234

we use a AS5402 sim box (2 sim cards), connected to 1 BRI port on the IPO406. So connected over 1 ISDN line. "Unsuitable" is selected for the clock quality of this port.

There is a problem with the 19" version connected to 2 BRI's
I don't know if this is the same problem when there is 1 BRI connected. You could try to call your reseller about this problem.
I've connected our Gateway to a IP500 BRI8, version 4.1.9

ok, thanks. We'll keep that in mind. We'r checking if the systeem reboots again. If so, we can do a test by disconnecting the sim box for a few days, checking the monitor log, ...

We are having the same issues, our IP 406 4.1(9) is rebooting randomly. Did you find a solution?

MCS has got a new firmware, i haven't give it a try maybe next week. The firmware you can get from their site.

Even when the ports are set on unsuiteble you need to disable sync on the as5402 too !!!
Do this and your problems are over !
I had an issue like this and searched for two days
When you look in monitor you will see sync problems

@tlpeter

This wont work with a IP500 BRI8 card there is a known problem for this!! We have 3 customers having this problem and it's only when u use more then 1 gateway connected to ISDN. If it's just one then there is no problem and you are right.

we haven't had any random reboots anymore. But we'r keeping our attention on this one.

Next time I'm on site, I'll check the sim box & the sync settings. But I think they are off...

I'll also check the monitor...

@Bas1234

It works on a bri8
I know it should not matter but it is a solution
Do you have any info on that for me ?

@mmy1981

You can see this from the outside
If the syncled is flashing red then it is on
When it is flashing green it is off

I'm not sure anymore...

I always check the LEDs, so I'm pretty sure they are green (but I don't think it's flashing)

So in that case, it means the connection check is set. The manual says when it's flashing, the connection check is off and the status is unknown.

The strange thing is that we never had problems before on this site. And at this point, we didn't get a reboot anymore.

If the leds blinking on the S0 port then you have a call
But there is also a led for the sync
It is the most left led

tlpeter, I know... But I'm 99% sure this one is burning non stop. But I'll check it. Thanks for the help

Once we updated out VoiceMail Pro to 4.1(6) we stopped doing the random reboots. Been a week and a half of not reboots.

Cheers
Hollis
