Recovery Model Full 1

I create my SQL databases with Recovery Model: Full.

This morning I noticed that all my MDFs and LDFs were updated (backed up) at 08:46AM. What controls this time when these backups occur? I never set anything to 08:46AM when I created my databases.

The date that the files show as being updated has nothing to do with when they were updated. SQL can go days or weeks and sometimes months without ever changing the timestamp on the files. If look and see when the database was last updated use Enterprise Manager and view the properties of the database or query the msdb database directly.

I looked at Enterprise Manager and right clicked on Properties for all my databases.

Last Database Backup on the first tab shows that the databases were updated ealy this morn today 11/7/2005. Backups were actually done between 415AM and 430AM.

What determined that these databases should have been backed up at these times?

Also what msdb table contains this info?

The backups would have been scheduled by someone. Check the Jobs under the SQL Agent (if you don't have sysadmin rights you won't be probably able to see the jobs).

There are several tables which hold the backup data. You will want to look at backupset and backupmediafamily.

Jobs must have come from somewhere else.

SQL Agent has been down for a few days. I will restart it after I figure out what backed up my databases this morn at 08:46AM.

As I said, the fact that the last updated flag on those files is 8:46 am may not mean anything (unless your server was restarted at that time).
