I have NetWorker 6.11 running on a Windows 2000 server. I am trying to restore some files from tape that were backed up from a NetWare server. I went through the restore procedure and selected the files I wanted to restore. When I tried to actually restore, each file had the message "Recover: cannot decode NetWare file '<path\filename>'" where <path\filename> is the actual path and file name of the files I wanted to restore.

Can anyone tell me why I am getting this message or what it means? What am I doing wrong?

Thanks very much for your help.

It looks like this is a user problem ;-)

The reason is obvious once you read the error message carefully ! -
You try to recover a NetWare file to a Windows client. Unfortunately you cannot do this:

Cross-platform recoveries are not possible with NW !

If you do not have a NetWare client any more, the only option you have
is to install a Novell OS, recover the data to it and copy the data over
the network to a Windows machine.
