Hello.

Some files have been overwritten on a win2k computer with ntfs filesystem. Is there any way to recoever them. I know that you can recover deleted files. But when you overwrite them. Is it true that the new file is written on the same place on the disk as the old one?

Thanx in advance?

/Alexander

Give this a shot and let me know if it worked. If it dos not I will come up with something else.

System File Checker Tool Syntax
SFC [/SCANNOW] [/SCANONCE] [/SCANBOOT] [/CANCEL] [/ENABLE] [/PURGECACHE] [/CACHESIZE=x] [/QUIET]

/Scannow - Scans all protected system files and replaces incorrect versions with correct Microsoft versions. This requires access to the Windows 2000 installation source files.

/Scanonce - Scans all protected system files once. This requires access to the Windows 2000 installation source files.

/Scanboot - Scans all protected system files every time you start your computer. This requires access to the Windows 2000 installation source files.

/Cancel - Cancels all pending scans of protected system files.

/Enable - Enables Windows File Protection for normal operation.

/Purgecache - Purges the file cache and scans all protected system files immediately. This requires access to the Windows 2000 installation source files. This command is required after running the /Cachesize=X command.

/Cachesize=x - Sets the file cache size in MB. This requires a reboot followed by a /Purgecache command to adjust the size of the on-disk cache.

/Quiet - Replaces all incorrect file versions without prompting the user.
