Recovering Outlook Express .dbx files 1

I've accidently deleted a folder in Outlook Express. I've found the .dbx file (which is still in its original location), but how do I get it back?
I've tried to import, but get a message the folder is either empty or in use and tried copying the .dbx to a new location (ie where it definitely wouldn't be in use).
I've tried dragging & dropping & even creating a new folder, opening them both in notepad & copying & pasting (including keeping the header info of the working folder)!

Please can anybody help?

You can use the utility at the following link to extract all the messages from it to a normal windows folder, then drag them into an OE folder from there.:-

My pleasure - I use their stuff to make backup copies of folders of useful notes that I have at home, so I can take them into work.

The easiest, yet inelegant, solution to this problem is:
1. Create the lost subfolder in your Outlook Express Inbox.
2. Find the newly created subfolder(dbx) and swap the file names old and new.

The names will probably be "mailfolder" and "mailfolder(1)".
