We have an Arcserve 2000 backup tape that we would like to do recovery from. The problem is we accidently erase the tape using "tapetest -d# -z" command. We think that the previous command only erase the media label, not the actual data, are we correct? If so, is there any way to somehow write the media label back to the tape and recover the data? Any suggestions on how to recover the data would really be appreciated.

Hi,

When you erase a tape , the label is removed and renders the media unreadable.
I dont think there is a way u can put a label back onto the tape without damaging the data.

Time to contact a Data Recovery Center.

So it Shall be Written!
So it Shall be Done!!

no way to put back the one that was there before and that is the only one that matters. As mentioned above time for a data recovery service.
