Hi,
Id like to be able to add a record into dns
so that anything at mydomain.co.uk replies on
one single ip address.
IE: website1.mydomain.co.uk website2.mydomain.co.uk
all reply on a single ip address without the need
for a dns entry for each.
When we didnt use to host websites ourselves
and the ISP used host headers they added a entry
with the name of a * for the domain and then
no matter what i pinged at mydomain.co.uk
eg: fdsjlkfsdjkl.mydomain.co.uk it replied on this ip
addy specified in the * record.
Im trying to add the * record to windows 2000 dns server
and it wont let the type * in the box, maybe it thinks
its an invalid character.
I know its possiable because my webhost added a *
record on their 2000 servers and windows server 2003
lets you add a * record easily (or so a friends tells me).
Comments and suggestions apprechiated.
Thanks
Robert
