Howdy;

I am running Exchange 5.5 on an ancient box. Currently, the store is set up on a RAID 6 array -- 3 striped drives for the primary, 3 for the mirror. One of the mirrored drives failed, and we cannot replace it. While I have new servers coming, I am in a position to keep the existing equipment working for a few more months...

Okay, so I can take the remaining 5 drives and make a RAID 5 array, but before I being is there anything special I need to do with the store. I am assuming it would be far too easy to copy it to another location, reconfigure the array (not using NT, but working deeper), then copy it back.

Any thoughts?

Thanks much,

Michael

That's all you have to do, stop all the services, copy the whole drive somewhere else, or back it up.
You may want to make the Exchange services manual, because you will need to do the reboot for the drives.
Change the drive configuration, then copy it back or restore it. Change the services back to Automatic, then start them.
