I am attempting to install an ASBCE now. Poor documentation. Zero support. Confusing set up. I finally got it talking to the provider. Now it wont register. Ug!
I would agree with fonedude. I will admit this is my first SBC install so my knowledge isnt grat with SBC's but Im not having much luck either.
SIP behind the customers firewall works great great for me tho
We have had a customer asked for one (don't ask me why!) and quite insistent as I said a good quality firewall would do the job. No courses at Scansource or Westcon in the UK. Spoke to an Avaya trainer who said to look at Avaya Learning and the courses currently are been done in New York. Can not see my company sending me to New York!
How about a media gateway such as Patton or Quintum. You can segment the network and use SSIP on the gateway device out to the ITSP. You may not have any ACLs but at least the connection is not made direct to an IPO and logins to the gateway are restricted to LAN access only.
Also, oddly enough I was thinking about this today as well. I would like to start offering customers our own flavour of a SBC and keep the money ourselves.
So far I have found that YATE can be used as a SBC
I followed document:
Application Notes for Configuring Windstream SIP Trunk Service (Broadsoft Platform) with Avaya IP Office 9.0.2 and Avaya Session Border Controller for Enterprise 6.2.1 - Issue 1.0
to the letter and Windstream came back with "that's an old document". And they don't know the product either. I realize once we get a few done it will get smoother. (I hope!)
