I've been trying to pick up Access development in my spare time. I used to do a lot of dBase, Foxpro, Rbase and C programming but that was over 10 years ago.

I bought the Access Bible but find it very poor quality with regards to real world practical samples, and it barely touches on programming.

Can you folks recommend a good book for learning the ins and outs of Access programming?

I realize that it's just Visual Basic with some Access specific additions. It's something that explains those additions and how to use them that I need.

Thanks..........Dan

When you say you bought the Access Bible...is that the name of the book????

Me, I personally refer to the Access 2000 Developer's Handbook as my "Access Bible". I would quickly and strongly recommend the following books:

Access 2000 Developer's Handbook Volume 1 Desktop Edition by Getz, Litwin and Gilbert and Published by Sybex ISBN 0-7821-2370-8
Access 2000 Developer's Handbook Volume 2 Enterpirse Edition by Getz, Litwin and Gilbert and Published by Sybex ISBN 0-7821-2372-4
Access 2000 VBA Handbook by Novalis and Published by Sybex ISBN 0-7821-2324-4
Visual Basic Language Developer's Handbook by Getz and Gilbert and Published by Subex ISBN 0-7821-2162-4

With these four books (and of course this site!!!!), there has been almost nothing I have not been able to figure out....

Yes, by the Bible I mean "The MS Access 2000 Bible" from
Wiley Publishing.

An 1100 page monster with a CD of mostly useless stuff.

The book goes over basics, but the demo it uses is pretty bad. For instance, it doesn't even give you details about how to select a record using a combo box to update forms and subforms.

I had to learn about that here.

Thanks for the recommendations.
