recognizing an animated GIF

I've written a program that displays various rastor graphics<br>
as well as animated GIFs. But, I am at a loss as to the best way to determine if a GIF is an animated GIF. The only thing I have found so far is that animated GIFs (usually) have the text &quot;Netscape2.0&quot; imbedded in them. Does anyone know a better way to determine if a GIF is animated?
