Recently Opened Programs Not Saving Upon Reboot?

I have Vista Ultimate for awhile and one of my gripes is that I have checked "Store and display a list of recently opened programs".

I launch some apps like Excel, Visio, Notepad, etc. Now they are on the list. Great!

However, every time I reboot my list is removed and is repopulated with various default apps such as Windows Welcome, Windows DVD Maker, Windows Ultimate Extra, AOL 9, etc, etc.

How can I change this behavior, so it saves the list I truly use? Please help!

Thanks!

What programs are you loading at Startup? Maybe they are being placed on the list? Have a look via MsConfig.

This is the Registry Key (I believe) responsible for the list being used or not used.

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced\Start_TrackProgs
