Recent Error regarding IBERQS

Hello - at three of our sites running an average of 10 licenses per site, we have had this error appearing usually after end of day (5 a.m.) on one or more terms and usually on a drive thru register (most active?)

It then asks me if I want to Abort, Retry, or Cancel. I've tried all 3 options and all 3 make Aloha freeze.

We've renamed translog & refreshing, which initially seems to help and usually have to reset the computer several times before it works properly.

Looking through the debug.eod and debout.g01 might give some insight as to exactly where in the EOD process this is happening. Grab the debouts before any of the terminals are rebooted and the EOD is still hung.

If the terminal is the master, this could be a file write not working. Why would be the question. The file could be corrupted, the permissions/sharing is an issue, or file attribute issue. When this type of error appears, the IBERQS.exe is not going to recover.

Unfortunately this can happen at any time of day, and not just at start of day. Right now it has happened on one of my registers in the middle of the afternoon. Here's the debout from register 304 that had this problem this afternoon.

V6.4 on "Operating system is Windows 2000 (BuildNumber 2195, Platform 2, Version 5.0, Service Pack 4)" is a nono.

IberRoot - 1) what can I do about the timeout alert on item #1? 2) I saw that thing about term 4/term 5 myself but 3) got excited when you said Windows 2000 is a nono. Since we just upgraded to 6.4, I assume you mean none of our registers will work well if on 2000. Should they all be on XP? What's odd with that is we have several on 2000 but the problem isn't on all of them.

I would personally recommend being on Windows XP SP3 when using 6.4. My dealer told me I needed the upgrade.

chachoschaluccis: The timeout, netbios Term5 is using Term4 Aloha configuration, so the peripheral may not even be present on that machine, correct it and check your logs again, beyond that, search the logs for FIFO, and fix the com port cfg...

Moving to 6.4 was obviously a pci compliance thing presumably because your using EDC and auth's are over the intertubes, putting it on Win2k is a bad thing due to the vc++ runtime library was constructed for XPSP3 kernel. Win2K is done on security patches next month on the 14th, so pci compliance is a moot point if your platform is no longer supported by its manufacturer. If you need Windows Embedded on your current hardware, I can help, I am a Windows Embedded Partner/Integrator. My builds are supported until 2024, and updates are tested/filtered via WSUS on my builds to prevent 'unexpected problems'.

At the very least, looking at the log of this terminal, I can only imagine the rest of the sytems are not running to good either, moving around terminals needs cfg follow through, at the very least you should image those machines with win2k as there are other things that do not appear right (netbios timeout indicating potential of an LSP problem indicating a potential past malware infection, depending on the type of malware one wonders if it migrated throughout the entire system)

Personally I would go with Windows Embedded, PM the site, and implement RFS.

Odd part of this is I have this same error at a site that is running an older version (5.2X) and it affects 1 register all the time only.

Additionally, at one store that is running 6.4, I have multiple registers on 2000K and only one of them showing this error......

BUT it all started about 2 weeks ago. I'm trying to investigate further.....

i saw the problem before. Hook up your terminal to internet and run all the windows updates, except the hardware part. this should address your issue's.
