I want to create a text field (similar to the one below)for typing in large volumes of text.

At present when the text is fed into the database (into a memo field) it loses all its line breaks, when it is returned it appears as one long sentence.

What is the correct way to enter the text into the database so it keeps the line breaks (as the boxes on this forum do)?

I'm asuming there is a function that will check for line breaks and replace them with the <br> tag.

The more you know, the more you realise there is to know....

regualr expressions can do this fairly easily. try searching for examples of HTML formatting etc. line breaks with regular expressions. 4guys has a good example but I misplaced the link.
