I had scheduled a complete rebuild of my exchange server today. I was running out of space on the system drive and my setup will not allow dynamic volume. Before rebuilding I tried to restore the information store from BackupExec but it keeps failing. I have a clean system state backup, I have all the .edb and .stm files copied off to another server. I've done rebuilds before but am nervous about doing this. Is there anything else I need besides the stm and edb files to have a good restore>?

Wouldn't it have been easier to just move some of the stuff off of the volume? How big is the volume and what's on it?

You also don't tell us why it's failing.

You'll also need any uncommitted or non-backed up log files.

The system drive is 25 gigs and I have moved as much stuff off of it as I can, currently it has 4.16GB free.
Exchange is installed on a different drive within the system, all that is on C is the Windows 2003 server data and Trend Server Protect.
BackupExec is failing with below error.
Error category : Security ErrorsError : e0008488 - Access is denied.

Veritas has something about the jcb.dll file missing and causing the problem. File is there and newer than the copy on my exchange disks.
I have the entire mdbdata directory copied to another server also.

Very Important point - im assuming you will have to replay log files to get this back up and operational.

JCB.dll is integral to get it back up and running then.

I would be tempted to replace it, since you are rebuilding have you considered a reinstall of exchange?

Could be an Installation error?

Hope you have managed to resolve!
