I recently installed a new soundcard (Soundblaster Audigy Gamer). When I boot up my PC, I notice that the volume control setting for Wave/MP3 is at its max. This causes my speakers to distort. What I need to know is how to avoid having to manually change this volume setting every time I turn on my PC. Is there any way to have these settings default to the settings of my previous session? Any and all help would be most appreciated.

As far as I know that shouldn't happen. Have you tried reinstalling the mixer?

Control Panel>Add Remove Programs>Windows\setup Tab> Multimedia>mixer.
Remove the check from the box and ok to remove. Reinstall. See if that makes a difference. If not, you may want to try reinstalling the sound card again.

I would suggest looking at the software that came bundled with the card (Creative Sound Mixer, perhaps). Go through all the options.

recently while setting up another machine that had integrated audio, I noticed that when the drivers went in, a new version of the mixer did too. It had a cupla options that I really like, SAVE settings Now and SAVE settings on exit. If this is the problem, just click save settings now before you reboot, or to return to windows default conditions, reselect save settings on exit.
