Hi,

My xp pro sp2 is doing a reboot loop, xp logo appeared then reboot. Here are what I've done:

1) boot from setup cd, repair, chkdsk /r : did not help
2) System restore from safe mode : did not help
3) plug in another drive with xp on it and it boot up ok : no issue with hardware
4) disable Automatic restart in system bootup and recovery: did not give me the blue screen with error, but keep rebooting.

Did I miss something? before I will have to reformat and re-install xp which I really do not want to do.

Thanks,

Kevin

It sounds like you boot into Safe Mode is that correct?

What does the repair you mention refer to, was it a repair (upgrade install) of XP or some other procedure?

If you can get into Safe Mode, look for some driver or third party application causing your problem.

Thanks Linney for the response. The repair I mentioned is the one where I put in winxp cd, booted from it and do a repair. I'll try all the suggestions that you provided.

Thanks,

Kevin

The repair you did if it completed successfully would fix most things if it was a problem caused by Windows, so concentrate on third party programs or hardware (perhaps either scenario concerning anything recently installed or added) as a cause of your problem.

Thanks, I'll look into that after talking to the user.
