If you have a battery near the keyboard that is going bad, the best way is to desolder it and solder a new one on. Second best is to solder the pins as described. Third best is to put wires in place of the pins when you desolder the old one and connect with wire caps. Last best is to solder wires to the existing pins and wire cap the new battery on.
The choice is yours to make based on your competence. If you don't use a soldering iron much and don't have a low wattage iron then you should stay away from the steps where you remove anything from the board.
Finding batteries that fit existing M/Bs can be an experience. That's why there are at least 4 variations.
And there is the possibility that the board manufacturer put header pins near the battery so you can pull a jumper and install a external battery connector to the pins.
Replacing a board mounted battery also requires the M/B to be removed to do a halfway decent job. So it isn't a 30 second job. Ed Fair
