Real + QT Alternative won't let me watch RM/MOV Files in WMP10?

I was under the impression that MOV/RM Files could be played in WMP10 with Real/Quicktime Alternative. After installing both of these programs, I find that Real Media files won't work at all in WMP10 ("WMP doesn't recognise the file type") and MOV Files don't play correctly (video plays about half as fast as the audio so it ends up ridiculously out of sync).

Am I doing something wrong or is this a lost cause? I hate having to have 3 bloated programs for playing all my media even though all of them can play all types of media except one or two. And please don't recommend Media Player Classic or other such software because I really like the interface and options in WMP10.

Did you come across the discussion going on here? 9.5 out of 10 say it can't be done but a couple of others are more optimistic.

It does work... at least for me...

I have installed, the K-Lite Mega Codec Pack 1.31 (24mb), there is an option when you install the codecs that will make WMP 9/10 play these files...

I just installed that Codec Pack. Still get the same problems.

Any other ideas?

Before I posted last time, I did a check on this, just to see if I got the same probs like you did, I didn't...

I right clicked on an .RM file, Contextmenu OpenWith, and told Windows to open that file with WMP 10 (build 3802), and it played it... the same for a .MOV and .QT file... both played nicely, and insync...

So I would guess that there must be some problem with the options you have choosen for WMP10... like VIDEOOVERLAY or VIDEO HARDWARE SPEEDUP (sorry I am using a non English version of WMP10 and Translation can get lost there)...

Is there a reason you need to use WMP10 instead of the MPC? MPS is included with QT + RP Alt.

I have Build 3802. I have tried tweaking settings but no help . Since Real movies don't open AT ALL, could there be a problem with the codec not being installed properly? I have reinstalled etc. with no luck...

You can check if there is a problem codec with the Following Software (should have been in the K-Lite Codec Pack):

Sherlock and/or GSpot...

reinstall just the Real Alternative, this should at least be possible... I am thinking that there might be just a REG problem with them...
