Reading S.M.A.R.T hard drive attributes

Anyone got any examples or links of reading SMART atributes? There is very little on the net, and I have only been able to find how to read the serial number of a drive.

From what I have found, you have to use the IOCTL API. I been dabbling with it, but haven't made much progress.

Any help/links/suggestions are appreciated.
