Reading PDFs

I need to be able to read PDFs with PHP.

I have a product that generates PDFs as printouts, and I need to make another PDF to report on the changes between different versions.

Does anyone know of an easy way to get a checksum out of a PDF page? This is all I need to make what I'm going to make.
