I'm trying to find the least cost route for reading DDS-1 tapes. We're doing business with a company that uses TDK DC4-90 media which I'm assuming is DDS-1 drive, but we need something at our end to read it. I was thinking if I got a more modern drive (e.g. DDS-2 +) it might be able to read/restore the data quicker?

Thanks

Dan

You would have to check the drive specs on the DDS-2 drive to see what kind of tapes it can read... usually the newer drives can Read from the older type tapes, they just cannot Write to them.

Also, do you know what was used to write to these tapes?
