Read Receipts

I'm running Exchange 2K and when I send an email with Outlook 2K or 2K02 to an external email address and request a read receipt, I don't receive the receipt. It works fine if I email internally. Does the receiving client need to have Outlook also for me to get a read receipt? I tested sending to my Hotmail account and did not get a read receipt.

most likely reason is that hotmail is filtering it out...if you were to send through a company server, or say your own dedicated domain name with mail service, then you would have gotten a receipt because its not going through another mail server that has totally different rules.
