Hi everyone,
I know someone already asked this question before and I know an answer was given to that question but I need a good solution to this problem because the previous answers does not work...
Within the Windows NT 4.0 Server, There is a Users$ folder in the D:\ drive (Partitioned). The Users$ folder was assigned to have SPECIAL ACCESS permission for EVERYONE but the Administrators have FULL CONTROL permission under SECURITY tab of the folder Users$. Within the Users$ folder, there are multiple folders for each and individual user according to their username. Each and every user folder has permissions with Administrator as FULL CONTROL and the user itself as FULL CONTROL under SECURITY tab.
What I want to do is have another user to access a different user's folder on that server. Let's say the user's username is TBROWN. The other user's username is CJONES. I want to give TBROWN access to CJONES folder in the server. Both folders at the beginning had permissions with ADMINISTRATORS as FULL CONTROL and the user as FULL CONTROL. I added TBROWN as FULL CONTROL under CJONES folder's permission settings and also checked the "REPLACE EXISTING FILES AND SUBFOLDERS" to replace all folders within CJONES folder to give TBROWN access/read/write/change (FULL CONTROL) permissions.
After doing so, when TBROWN logs onto the system, he can read the contents of the CJONES folder and he can open them successfully and he can write to the document, but he cannot save any changes for WORD or any type of document in any folder within CJONES folder. When TBROWN tries to open an ACCESS DATABASE, it indicates that the database is only READ-ONLY and he cannot make any changes within the database.
Please give me a solution to this problem. I cannot figure out why it only reads files as a read-only attribution even though I've given TBROWN FULL CONTROL access to CJONES' folder. Thanks.
