Hi,
I have read several posts that are similar to my problem but I am having a problem with my personal pc that has no user groups or anything of that nature. I don't know what I did to cause this problem but within the last day or two I must have done something. (darn user error!)

When I click on any folder (yes I have tried quite a few) the read-only option is on. I click it off and hit apply. I right-click again and lo and behold the darn thing (I would love to be more explicit but I'll be good) freakin folder is back to read-only.

Well, I turned simple security off to get the more advanced security tab and I am the owner of everything. However many times I apply the right-clicking off of read-only it comes right back. I don't get it. What the heck did I do? I did recently install some software to use with music - BitTorrent, mwkAudio something or other for SHN files (it's too early for me to remember everything), and FLAC Frontend. And a few winamp plugins. Are any of these known to do something like this. I even tried to use Windows Restore to before I installed all the above a few days ago and nada.

Anyway, I am the administrator and there are no other log-ons to my computer and it is not networked to anything.

Please help as this is driving me bonkers!!

Thanks,
Dawn

Also, I have read a few Microsoft Support articles that I have been pointed to to no avail:

You Cannot View or Change the Read-Only or System Attribute of Folders

How to set, view, change, or remove file and folder permissions in Windows XP

Thanks again guys!

Are you having a problem? This comes up quite often & is normal for NTFS formatted drives. Search this forum for NTFS read only.
