I want to create a image which will have a text but i need it have a shadow. How do i do this in paint pro.I tried drop shadow effect but it comes up with shadow for the whole image.I want the shadow just behind the text.Even though i select the text the shadow is for whole image, why is that?

How did you select the text? Maybe you selected the background. If you select the background, try inverting the selection and then apply your drop shadow.

Drop shadows like you're looking for have to be done before merging the image layers. When you add your text and get it's placement the way you want it, turn it into a rster layer and then apply the drop shadow effect. When this is completed you can merge the layers and save the image in your preferred format. There's always a better way...
