We have a pair of S8710's that we've replaced that are sitting on the shelf. Does anyone know if they could be re-purposed for something like a SES, AES or a One-X Mobile server?

For One-X I'm guessing they would probably have to be re-imaged with W2K3, but that could be easy enough to do.

Thanks,

You generally can, but Avaya doesn't like to do it. I tried last year when I had an 8710 that I wanted to turn into an EMMC server. Avaya wasn't happy with the idea. (I eventually talked them into a discount on the hardware they sold me, so I wasn't that upset.)

When a system is put in service, they like to know the age of such things hard drives and cooling fans. An older server would have drives with a shorter lifespan, and would need service calls sooner.

Still, they're decent servers, and there's no earthly reason to toss them. If you re-build them with new drives and fan assemblies, you'd generally have a new server. If you have any other projects in your business that need a good server, (email, web server, etc...) you can easily use them there.
