Hi all!

Is anyone using the above Cisco model for their Firewall and Intrusion Prevention System needs? Is it a robust firewall suitable for a medium sized company?
Your comments would be much appreciated.

Thanks!

How many users?
Does it support VPN client connections and if so haw many?
Does it support VPN site to site and if so how many?
Are you doing any VOIP or QOS?
What type and speed of internet connection?

Between 50-60 users
It does support VPN client connections but I don't know how many.
No. We are not doing VOIP or QOS.
ADSL connection. 4 MBit/sec downstream, 780 Kbit/sec upstream.

Thanks

With that many users I would probably go with at least an 1841 if not the 2801 model. The 1841 is the only 1800 series with WIC slots for expansion. The other 1800 models are fixed hardware configuration. If you go with either of these I recommend ordering it as a bundle with at least the SEC/K9 package (Advanced Security)IOS. This has IPS and VPN support and is cheaper as a bundle. Also consider a low cost smartnet contract for accessability to downloads, updates, and TAC center.
