Greetings again,

Has anyone come across an issue RDC connections not being established when being run over a VPN, and the user is not an administrator? I can put the laptop on the physical network, and the user can access a server using a remote desktop. I can connect to the network using a VPN and anyone with local admin rights can access the server using a remote desktop. When I connect over the VPN using a standard 'user' account, the RDC will not establish itself.

Using RUNAS on the remote desktop exe, when logged in as a 'user' does not work; I'm completely out of ideas here. Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

Russell.

Carlsberg don't run I.T. departments, but if they did they'd probably be more fun.

The "standard user" has to be a member of the "Remote Desktop Users" group. Go to Computer Management > Users and try adding that group, see if that does it.

Unfortunately it didn't make any difference, that's one of the first things I tried. Thank you for the suggestion, though. The effort shall have to begin again on Monday!

This is a long thread, I'm not sure how relevant it is to your problem but it might not hurt to have a quick look at it.

Thanks for that, Linny. I'll give it a shot on Monday :)
