RDC logon to XP logs off the current user?

When I use a W2K Pro machine to RDC into an XP Pro machine I am prompted to logoff the already logged on user - why?. When RDC into a W2K Srv I do not get this and I can establish a connection whilst the machine is looged on.

Any help / advice would be appreciated.

This is normal behavior, and by design in XP.
