I have a file which shows up on the desktop....even after I delete it, and empty the recycle bin. Norton says no viruses found. But this file shows up...and it shows up as this: ~ that's it....just the ~ sign....anyone ever run across this???

That "~" (tilde) file is appearing as the result of installing the cumulative patch for Outlook Express (330994)". Microsoft is aware of the problem and is supposedly fixing it.

slpd13, many thanks for the info......have uninstalled the patch...and no more ~ files! Again, many thanks.....my client was driving me nuts complaining about it.
