hey all, I just got 2 x 256mb DIMMS of RAM for a Dell PowerEdge 4300 and put them in along side 2 x 128's which were already there.
The problem is that at the boot up I get an error message saying that the RAM is Unregistered/Unbuffered and I have to continue without it finding it properly. I have them in decending order as it has to be, the new RAM is the right type the part no. is KTD-PE4300-256, which is Kingston PowerEdege 4300 256. I have tried taking out the origional RAM and left in the new one's, and only then does the server find it and it works ok, but if I put the others in again it goes....
Is there anything I should do to get this RAM working or do I have to replace the 128's??????
thanks people... Jay~

a lot of time dell and hp will put in a routin in the bios to spot non dell or hp memory but on some you can turn it off so check the bios So long and thanks for all the fish.

well the amount of RAM is not the problem, it can handle
1024mb, and I just have in total 768mb in there.
And I dont think that it wont accept the RAM due to the
thing in the bios as it will work if I only put in the
2 256's on their own, the problem is when they are put in
with the others. I think the 128's are registered/buffered,
and the 256's are unregistered/unbuffered.?? Jay~
