Is there any compatibility issues, with ram and Norton Anti-Virus Software? A friend is experiencing difficulties with such. Thanks..

Your question is confusing. Please be more specific.

Are referrring to the amount of RAM, type of RAM, just RAM in general? Is the "ram" you are referring to not Random Access Memory?

ok.. he bought some ram from bestbuy. he installed it, it would boot to a certain point, and his computer would freeze. he then took off norton... problem went away. he loaded norton 2002 and he started receiving other errors. not virus related.

There is NO connection b/w RAM and Norton (aside from the fact that you're comp. needs a minimum amount of RAM to run the software, usualy 32MB of RAM) I have not failed; I merely found 100,000 different ways of not succeding...

So if he takes the new RAM out of the system and leaves the old module, do the problems go away?

Sounds like you may have encountered multiple problems that aren't necessarily related. Always perform one upgrade at a time and avoid upgrading again until after you're sure the previous upgrade worked!

Thats cause something is either wrong with the RAM or its the wrong kind....

I would side with the rest of the group here in that it is probably faulty memory, improperly seated memory, dirty slots, or wrong memory speed.

The fact that the problem occurs with Norton installed is merely the fact that Norton scans the memory...my guess, or at least is trying to use certain portions of it.

Definitely try returning/replacing the modules to see if the problems go away.

if you are are putting a new module in with the old one (so you have 2 modules in there now), try putting the new ram in the slot the working one is in, if it works then put the old ram in a different slot..you should have 3 slots to play around with -Greg :-Q
