Hi,

I'm fixing the corrupted database. Instructions says to remove the raaaaaa.chk file, still there are raaaaa files all the way to raaaaxl.chk. Question is: should I only remove the raaaaaa.chk or can I also del all other chk files?

Thanks!

Hi
You need to run dDatabase tools to fix the errors in
your database
This link explain how to maintain your Arrcserve database

if you want to rest the database you need to go to
-Start-->Programs-->ArcserveIT-->Server Admin
-click on Database Engine tab
-from Menu select operation-->Initilize Database
-select all databases

Note:If you rest your database then you need to Merge the
tape each time you want to restore form the tapes backup
up before the dtabase initialization

I'm having the same problem with the raaaaaaa.chk files. I've done all the fixes and deleted 400 chk files, but still they keep being created. I get a new one every time the backup finishes. Does anyone know how to stop this?
Thanks.

Hi
If you have many problem with your database better is to
Initilize Database.

Okay, I initialized the database too. However, I'm still getting a new .chg file every day. Should I uninstall and reinstall?

Hi
Have you initialized all the databases?
Do you mean .chg or .chk.
Initialization should be more than enough to overcome any
Problem related to database.
Reinstalling is not the cure!
Are you running ARCserve 2000 or ARCserve 9.0?
If you have ARCserve 2000 is sp4 is applied

In the Database directory, edit (notepad, or your text editor of choice), the file velocis.ini.
Find and change the entry to read:
Archiving = 0

I don't believe you need to stop any engines for the change to take effect.

Mohamdr:
Yes, I initialized all databases. Yes, I mean chg files not chk. I am running Arcserve 2000 with SP4.

Wayneta:
I've changed the archiving to 0 and we'll see what happens.
