I am trying to downgrade an SD card to R7. I took a new card, reformatted it, recreated it, put it in the IPO (both card and IPO new out of box) did the upgrade and the system works, but I cannot connect with manager. I can open monitor and SSA, but no luck with manager. I have tried both lan and wan, using 42.1 and 43.1, set with my PC set to static and dhcp in both instances. I can ping the appropriate address depending on what port I am in. I have changed ethernet cables. I have tried to go directly to the IP address instead of using the 255.255.255.255. I have connected wireshark and verified the right ip addresses are passing info. I am not sure what to do next. This is more an experiment than anything, but I am wondering what I did wrong. Any suggestions appreciated.

Just a shot in the dark.. are you trying to open a IPO R8.1 with a an R7.0 Manager?
If so, that won't work very well. SysMon connects, it's not as picky on the release ver.

Try this:
File> Advanced> Upgrade (and then proceed with your up(down)grade.

Kind regards

Gunnar

Oh, for fox sake!

I took a new SD card, reformatted and recreated it on my laptop, then put it in a new box. The system came up as 7.0.27. SSA and monitor both recognize it; Manager won't. I need it for a non-profit who has an R7 and another location, wants SCN to be able to only use 1 recpt, and doesn't have the $$ to upgrade other loc to R8 (since 7 runs without the need for essential license.) this is a low-budget deal; I am basically selling the equipment at a 10% markup and installing it for free - I have one more SD card I haven't used; not sure how to 'downgrade' them - mgr never gives me those options :)

Open manager and point the working directory to a release 7 admin cd.
Then do an upgrade to 7.0
Job done.

BAZINGA!

I'm not insane, my mother had me tested!

First of all, you can run 7.0/8.0 in SCN, but not 7.0/8.1.
Secondly, your Manager should have an upgrade option, never seen that feature disappear.

Pay attention your broadcast settings

Any warnings in the SSA? Like "SD Card missing", "Incompaitble SD Card fitted", "Running secondary software"?

Kind regards

Gunnar

I am trying to create a 7 to work with an existing 7. Then I can implement SCN without them having to purchase 2 essential licenses. No warnings first time, but after I tried again I got the secondary software message. The only software on the PC is R7 and it did the upgrade thing - but won't let me in. I have used the 255.255.255.255 broadcast, and have tried to point it specifically to 192.168.42.1 on LAN1 and then tried 192.168.43.1 on the WAN port. It seems odd to me that I can use both monitor and SSA, they both show me exactly what I would expect (a system running in quick version with the right board and release) but not manager.

I would load R8.1 or R9 onto your laptop and try to connect again. I bet the SD card did not downgrade as needed and the system is really at 8.1 as Gunnaro stated. If you load R8.1 and can connect, then do as tlpeter stated and point the upgrade directory to your R7 Admin docs (just save them on the laptop somewhere) and it will downgrade properly.

This sounds like a broken SD card to me.

Pull the card! You said you have a spare.

You might want to re-install your IP Office suite, just to make sure.|

Kind regards
