"winnt5" and "status" screen pop on 2k pro desktop

Hi

I have just format & installed 2k pro and it had some virus issues (mostly backdoor worms), finally norton a/v has settled things,. NOw, when desktop loads, two blank screens appear with following names:

"winnt5" and "status", if i put away the winnt5 screen, everything looks fine and system function properly.

OS has all MS patches updated on it as well.

any input/clue is appreciated.
