When attempting a remote recovery using IDR (v9.1 sp1) I'm getting "Unable to establish connection" when I try to connect to a media server. I've tried it with both the service account for BackupExec and my domain Administrator accounts. Nothing gets logged in the security logs anywhere that looks promising.

I had this problem when I was doing test restores using VMWare & naturally Veritas tech support zeroed in on the VMWare as being the culprit & told me that if I had a "real network card" it would work fine.

Now that I have a real server that needs to be restored my deep-seated suspicion that they were giving me a cop-out answer has been confirmed. I still cannot get it to connect. I'm gonna open a new case with them in a few minutes but I wanted to see if anyone could give me an answer that didn't come out of a script.

FYI: I'm attempting to restore to the exact same box (with the exception of some new disk drives) that the backup was taken on so I should be free and clear of any problems relating to the NIC or static/dynamic IP addresses.

I'm having the same problem , how did you get on with support
