My SQL server has started bringing up this error message after installing Sophos Enterprise Manager. Sophos being just like Microsoft have denied responsibility and I now have the arduous task of trying to fix it. I have already looked at the following article:
..but I do not know what disk the SQL Server install is on, all I have is the CDs for SBS 2000, there is no disk with the server that had SQL Server on it. Other than that, where can I get the Refresh CD for MSDE, as that is the only other solution I can try (plus I did also upgrade to SP3a this morning thinking that would make a difference, but it hasn't!)

Any help would be much appreciated...

I'm not clear, which piece of software is not working correctly? The SQL Server it self, of the Service Manager that sits in the system tray?

I don't know what SQl Server is used for, the service manager comes up as saying there is no services to refresh so presumably when I installed SAV it overwrote something that was already there? Uninstalling SQL and reinstall is not an option unfortunately, too much cost involved from our third party software supplier to set it all back up again. Thanks

Does it have the correct server name listed when you open the service manager?

Yeah it does. When I click on the services available though, it says that it cannot find any services available.

I'd recommend just not using the service manager, and using the services control pannel, or Computer Managment.

I'm not sure what file(s) could have been installed that would stop it from finding the services.
