Scenerio: Is there an equivelant "su" command in win2k that is common place on any *nix platform? There has to be any easier way to get admistrator type tasks done when logged in as a regular user. I get tired of logging in and out because it just takes too long. Mike L.G.

Nope. Usually, if you need to perform an administrative task with a user that does not have permissions, it gives you a prompt to enter the username and pw of a user with administrative rights. Not sure if this is the case always though. Nate Gagne

depends what you need to do - if it is control panel stuff you can shift right click it and choose run as.

Any program can be started in Windows 2000 by holding down the SHIFT key and right click on it, this allows you to "run as", and then it asks you as who you want to run the program.

this works in the start menu, but also if you open up Windows Explorer and select any .EXE program.

Andre
