I am trying to create an announcement on our switch and I am not sure what I need to accomplish this. We have a Definity G3si v6. We only have basic CMS, so I do not believe we have the ability to vector. I want to be able to
have a user talk to the attendent then when being transfered to whatever extension hear the message "Your call may be etc.....".
Would the easiest solution be to install an announcement pack?
How would I set this solution up?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Paul

The best thing to do is put your attendants into a hunt group and, yes, use an announcement board.

There would be a forced first announcement defined in the hunt group (third page I think) by setting the delay to 0 seconds.

The callers would hear the announcement before being answered by the attendant. I don't know of any way to do it while being transferred, unless you have the caller placed on hold, and you put the message into your music on hold. (not a good solution if you ask me)

Your attendant might also be able to give the message. There are a few devices out there that can deliver canned messages through a handset cord. The attendant activates the canned message player, and when the message is through, completes the transfer.

well, kinda restricts you a lot if you dont have vectoring. however, there is a field in the second page of the hunt group form that says "first announcement". You do have to create an announcement "your call may be monitored..." into an announcement board and assign the extension to the hunt group form. good luck

I have no technical solution to your management problem

Great,
So by adding them all to a specific hunt group and assigning the extension to the card on the form they would hear the announcement before being answered. If there were a group of extensions, then I could assign them to a specific hunt group and when the attendent transfered to these extensions being in this hunt group, then they would hear the announcement and then ring the extension. Correct????

If they are 302 console attdts, then putting them in a hunt group will cause problems.
You said that you 'didn't think' that you had vectors, so the first thing would be to find out for sure. Do 'list conf cust' and see if you have vectoring and attdt vectoring.
You can still have annoucements without a annoucement board. The board is the way to go if you have the money though.

P.S. For the best response to a question, read FAQ222-2244. Also give the type & version of your voice mail & pbx & preview your post to make sure it is complete & understandable. Please answer all questions so that I may have the info to assist you. Leaving a post on how you fixed the problem will also be appreciated.

The command to see if you have features such as vectoring turned on is:
display system-parameters customer-options NOT what was previously mentioned.
